Meet and greet

Get to know your participants before the session.  Always prepare your room and materials in advance so that you can mingle with the participants as they arrive.  This is much more than going around the room shaking everyone's hands - ask questions that will provide information you need to know - like "what are you hoping to gain from the program?" or "Have you done any programs in this subject area before?"
