Learning From Other People’s Experience

Overview

Ask participants to make notes on comments, experiences or points raised during the seminar that they can apply in their environment.

Materials Required:

Copies of handout: Learning from other people’s experience

Timing

Introduce early in the seminar, about 2 or 3 minutes.

Reminders as the session progresses.

Review as required.

Procedure

Include a copy of the handout Learning from other people’s experience as the first page of the seminar materials.

At the beginning of the seminar draw participants’ attention to the page, and suggest that as the session progresses they may like to record comments, experiences or points raised that have particular application in their environment.

Suggest that they record planned actions; don’t write what is said write what you are going to do about it,

Suggest that they tick items that they plan to do always and cross items that they will never do again.

Review

At convenient times, ask participants to nominate one item from their list. Convenient times may include before or after the lunch break, at the end of each day, and at the beginning of day 2 and subsequent days.

This review has the double advantage of reminding the participants to use the sheet, and suggesting ideas for inclusion.
